White Wash by Honest Papaya is a packaging design project that critiques the lingering effects of colonialism in Philippine beauty standards by rebranding a widely used skin-whitening product in the Philippines: papaya soap.

By presenting the product through blunt and unfiltered honesty, the design exposes how colorism and proximity to whiteness are still heavily marketed as ideals.

Drawing from my own personal experience and memories of growing up in the Philippines, I wanted to bring light to how colonial mindsets continue to shape not just the everyday products we buy, but ultimately how we perceive ourselves.
